Ask. Build. Do.

Three flavors of the same loop - plain English in, real result out, straight into your channel.

ASK

@Ergod what should we play tonight - 4 of us, 90 minutes, cheap or free

5 picks with why each fits, platform + price next to each, links to start. Pick one and ask for more like it.

BUILD

@Ergod build us a Wordle with our inside-joke words

DO

@Ergod scaffold a typed REST API for a todo app - Express, SQLite, with tests

src/index.ts, routes/todos.ts, db.ts. 12 passing tests. npm test runs clean. Zip in your channel + a GitHub PR if you've linked your repo.

Find your fit

Whatever you bring, it builds.

Not just for developers. Pick your starting point - Ergod meets you there. If none of these sound like you yet, start with the plain-English guide.

For the curious

Describe an idea. Get a working thing.

You don't need to know code, terminals, or cloud. Type what you want into Discord - Ergod plans, builds, runs, and hands you the files. Open them in your browser. Or drop them straight on a host.

Features

One bot. A whole toolbelt.

The essentials are free. Pro adds headroom and team features for when one workspace isn't enough.

It learns you Persistent memory

Tell it "I prefer TypeScript," "always use 4-space indents," or "I have a dog named Bean" once - and it remembers across every future session. The longer you use Ergod, the sharper it gets at working with you specifically.

memory ← user prefers concise replies
memory ← working on portfolio site
recall → "the usual stack" = React + Vite

Plans, then builds

Ergod isn't a one-shot answer. It plans the work, picks tools, runs commands, reads errors, retries. You watch it think, right in the channel.

Your stuff stays yours

Each Discord user gets their own private sandbox - files, GitHub token, provider keys, chat history all locked to you. Nobody else can see or touch any of it, even in the same server. Keys and tokens encrypted at rest, never on disk.

Pick your model. Or bring your own. Any tier

Different models behave differently as agents. Some shine at code, some at writing, some at long context. Pro / Pro+ pick from a curated shortlist. Any tier (Free included) can bring their own Claude, GPT, Gemini, or OpenRouter key (plus xAI / Grok), route turns through their provider, and stretch their Ergod usage ~5× since the model bill is on their side.

Admin controls Manage Channels

Gate Ergod to specific channels, block roles, scrub mentions. Uses Discord's existing Manage Channels permission - no new role to wire up. You set it with slash commands; the dashboard's Servers surface lets you read back what a server is currently set to.

/ergod-configchannelrole
In the browser

The fastest way in is a browser tab.

Sign in with Discord and start typing. You do not need to install the bot, own a server, or have ever used Ergod before - your workspace is created by your first message. The dashboard is the shortest path from nothing to a finished file, and everything below fills in once you have sent that message.

A composer that works before you have an account First run

Signing in with Discord does not provision anything, and it does not have to. The first message you send creates the workspace behind it. Nothing to install, no server to own, no slash command to learn - and if you would rather use Discord, that stays a link on the same screen instead of a prerequisite.

Watch it work, and read the answer

The reply appears as the agent works, rewriting one message in place as it goes, with a live row naming the tool it is running right now - driven by the same state machine Discord reads from, not a second copy of it. Answers render as formatted text: headings, lists, links and real code blocks rather than raw asterisks and backticks. Your Discord avatar and name sit on the messages, so it reads as a conversation.

Slash commands, with a menu Type /

Fifteen commands run in the browser composer - /usage, /tier, /model, /memory and the whole of /session. Type / and a list opens with a description on every row, so you find out what exists instead of having to already know. Commands that cannot run on the web are listed too, with the reason, rather than quietly missing.

Browse the files it made, and open them

Walk your workspace directory tree, see sizes, and open a text file in place to read its source without leaving the page. Download any file straight to your machine - no /export zip needed when you just want the one file. Reading only: editing a file means asking the agent to change it.

Public links, and who opened them

Share a text file on a public URL that renders its source. The dashboard lists every link you've minted with its view count, so you can see one landed - and revoke it, which breaks it immediately.

Sessions, and where you left off

See your saved sessions with their last-active times, start a new one, and switch the active one without typing a slash command. Come back to an empty session and it offers to resume the last one by name.

Usage and plan

Your budget meter, turns today, current tier and storage. On Pro and Pro+ the meter is a rolling 7-day pool, so a heavy afternoon borrows against a quiet week rather than stopping you at midnight. Upgrade or manage an existing subscription from the same card.

Three surfaces, not one long page

Work is the chat, your sessions, your files and your share links. Account is your plan, billing, usage detail and preferences - including the switch that stops Ergod DMing you. Servers shows what a server you hold Manage Channels in is currently set to - read-only, and it appears only if you administer one. What Servers shows.

Read it on a phone

The dashboard is built down to a 375px viewport - the file browser, the chat log and the budget meter all hold their shape on a phone, which is where a Discord link usually gets opened.

Scripted preview

Type something. Watch what it'd do.

A scripted taste of the shape. For the real thing, open the dashboard or talk to it in Discord.

Heavier tasks count for more, casual chat barely moves the meter. Bring your own provider key on any tier to fit ~5× more turns in the same budget. Every new account also gets a one-time welcome boost worth 3 days of Free's daily usage that applies after your daily and never expires.

FAQ

Things people ask first.

Brand new to all of this? Start here — a plain-English walkthrough with no jargon.

I've never used an AI agent before - is this for me?
Yes. Ergod is built to be the no-friction door to AI. No paywall, no setup, no codebase to maintain - just hop into a Discord and ask. You don't need to know how to code, you don't need to install anything, and you can try it free in our community without owning a server. The whole point is that you can experience what an AI agent actually does, with your friends, before deciding anything.
I don't really use Discord - is this for me?
Increasingly, yes. You do need a free Discord account, because signing in with Discord is currently the only way in - but you do not need to use Discord itself. Open the dashboard at app.ergod.dev, sign in, and type: the composer works before you have a workspace, and your first message creates one. No server to join, no bot to install, nothing to download. What you would still miss is the collaboration: shared channel workspaces, collaborator invites and per-server admin controls are Discord features, and most people still use Ergod there. If you do administer a server, the dashboard can now show you its settings - reading them is on the web, changing them is still a slash command.
What can I actually use this for?
Anything you can describe - a landing page for your business, a script that renames files, a custom Wordle for your friend group, a Discord bot, a tip calculator, a small game, a research summary, a CSV cruncher. If it would take a developer an afternoon, Ergod can take a swing at it in minutes.
Why not just use ChatGPT or Claude directly?
Those return code snippets in a chat. Ergod actually runs the work in your own private sandbox, fixes its own errors, and ships finished files back to your server - and it lives where your community already is, so your friends can use it too.
Does it remember stuff between conversations?
Yes - that's one of the best parts. Correct it once ("I prefer TypeScript," "always use 4-space indents," "I have a dog named Bean") and it remembers across every future session. The longer you use Ergod, the sharper it gets at working with you specifically. Memory lives in your private sandbox; nobody else sees it.
Is there really a free tier?
Yes. Daily usage budget free, 1 GB workspace, direct DMs, named sessions, image input, GitHub linking, bring-your-own-tools (MCP), and bring-your-own-provider-key. All of it, no credit card. Pro ($9.99/mo) is 5× Free's daily usage and adds the social layer (channel-shaped personas, shared workspace, collaborator invites) and the model picker. Heavier tasks consume more of your daily; casual chat barely moves the meter. Slash commands like /help and /vote are unlimited.
What's the difference between Pro and Pro+?
Room, and nothing else. Pro+ is twice Pro on the two numbers that run out: the usage budget (10× Free's daily instead of 5×, pooled the same rolling 7 days) and the workspace (10 GB instead of 5 GB). Everything else is identical — the same model picker over the same curated shortlist, the same sub-agents, the same channel personas, shared workspaces and collaborator invites, the same 60-minute container idle timeout. There is no Pro+-only model and there never has been. So the question to ask is simply whether you are running out on Pro: if you are, Pro+ doubles it, and Pro+ subscribers get priority support from us. If you are not, stay on Pro — you would be paying for headroom you are not using.
Need extra usage today?
Run /vote in Discord. It opens our top.gg page; one vote per UTC day grants +5 asks on top of your budget for the rest of that day. It is a flat grant, identical on every tier: on Free that is +50% of a 10-ask day, and on Pro / Pro+ it is 5 asks against a much larger rolling weekly pool, so the percentage is small. Vote daily and you build a streak that shows in /usage and /tier.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Describe what you want in plain English. Ergod plans the work, writes the code, runs it, and gives you the files. If you want to learn, it explains what it did.
Is my stuff safe?
Every Discord user gets their own private sandbox - your files, your GitHub account, your chat history, all locked to you. Nobody else can see or touch any of it, even in the same server. GitHub tokens are encrypted at rest and never written to disk; git reads them from an ephemeral helper, scoped to your turn only.
Which AI models does it use?
Free runs on a single curated hosted model picked for the right balance of cost and capability. Pro and Pro+ pick from a curated shortlist with /model list and /model set; you choose which one burns through your usage budget. Those run in the browser composer as well as in Discord, though the dashboard has no point-and-click picker yet - you type the command. On any tier (Free included) you can bring your own Claude, GPT, Gemini, or OpenRouter key with /byok set (plus xAI / Grok). Your turns route through your own account, stretching your Ergod usage about 5× since the model bill is on your side.
Can I bring my own API key?
Yes, on every tier. Run /byok set in Discord to add a key for Claude (Anthropic), GPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), Grok (xAI), or OpenRouter. Validated on save and encrypted at rest. You can save keys for multiple providers at once and switch active provider with /byok use without re-entering. /byok on and /byok off toggle without losing your saved keys. While BYOK is on, your turns route through your own provider account (you pay the actual model cost) and only count ~1/5 against your Ergod usage budget. A Free user with a key fits roughly 5× the turns of a hosted Free user.
Can my whole team share one workspace?
Yes - that's a channel session. A Pro user opens a shared workspace for a channel and the whole group reads and writes the same files together. Free friends can fully participate; only the sponsor needs Pro. Perfect for D&D parties, study groups, and small team sprints.
